Regions we cover
Disclosure Scotland issues Standard and Enhanced disclosures for individuals who are applying for a relevant position in Scotland.
Basic disclosures are available to anyone, throughout the UK, for any purpose.
Organisations that are based in Scotland, who meet the relevant criteria can apply for disclosures in respect of employees who are based outside the UK.
PVG legislation will affect organisations in Scotland, including employers, charities, sporting and voluntary bodies with posts which involve "regulated work" with "children" and/or "protected adults" which used to access Enhanced Disclosures.
Providing UK wide information - Subject Access Requests
Our service covers information held on databases in the UK. Disclosure Scotland has no input into, or responsibility for, producing Subject Access Reports (SARs). If you require a SAR, you should contact the Scottish Police Force in whose area or areas you reside or resided.
If you live or lived in the UK, but outside Scotland, you should contact:
PO Box 623
The Foreign & Commonwealth Office and the Disclosure and Barring Service may be able to help you with information on non-UK citizens in the UK or UK citizens overseas.
There is no age requirement for a disclosure check. Parental consent is advised if a disclosure is sought for individuals less than 14 years of age.
England or Wales?
If you are an individual working or an organisation with positions working in England or Wales you should apply to the Criminal Records Bureau for Standard and Enhanced disclosures.
Individuals or an organisation with positions working in Northern Ireland should apply to Access NI for disclosures.
